  • 4 Nights in the Kenya Highlands.
  • After breakfast, drive due North towards the Kenyan lush green highlands.  Enroute, we drive along beautiful highland agricultural land, lash green with crops. From tea to coffee and banana farms, the area is rich and green.
  • You will fall in love with the Laikipia Plateau, a stunning destination for both game viewing andfor the opportunity for community engagement. The plateau is filled with wildlife conservancies with strong roots in local communities and equally strong conservation programs. They are also well known for their fabulous wildlife viewing-viewing experiences, with big cats and rhinos very often a part of the mix here.  Most of the conservancies have exclusive tented camps and lodges, which makes for a wonderfully intimate safari experience.
  • We have four nights at the Tafari Castle.  Our base for the first two days of class. We will also have game drives at the Ol Pejeta conservancy and Rhino Sanctury, hiking in the AberdareMountain ranges, archery and birdwatching.

Accommodation at Tafaria Castle (Full Board)

  • On day 6, we drive from the highlands to the floor of the Rift Valley, to Lake Nakuru National Park.
  • It is not surprising that some of the aerial scenes from the out of Africa movie were shot here in Lake Nakuru National Park. It’s beautiful views of the escarpment, lake and acacia forest these sceneries are unforgettable.  Lake Nakuru National Park was among the first conservation areas to be set apart for the preservation of the very endangered Black and White Rhinos in the early 80s.  Here the Rhinos enjoyed 24hour surveillance.  Today the population of the rhinos has grown to over 150.Tree climbing lions can often be spotted as well as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.  Birds are in abundance here with flamingos, pelicans, fish eagles among others. You may also see leopards, lots of gazelles and antelopes, hippos, and buffalos. We will have daily game drives while here.
  • Staying at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge means having some of the best views from any lodge in the Lake Nakuru area.  In fact, the views are so good, you’ll never want to leave.  The rooms are roomy and tastefully decorated with modern décor.  Take time to enjoy the swimming pool as well.
  • We have another two days of class here.

Accommodation and 2 days of class at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge (Full Board)

  • On day 9, we depart early after Breakfast for the World-Famous Savanna of the Masai Mara.
  • The Masai Mara Game Reserve is one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations in the world.  It offers visitors the chance to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the planet’s greatest natural wonders.  The park is home to the Big Five game – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant-and opportunities to witness their interactions with other species up close. In the months of June/July/August the Mara is home to hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and other herbivores migrating from the expansive Serengeti in the south across the Tanzania border.  Truly a spectacular phenomenon to witness.
  • Additionally, we will get an opportunity to visit a Masai Village and interact with the local community as we learn the culture of the peoples here. We will also visit a local school and provide school provisions to the students and the teachers.
  • Three nights here give us great opportunities for daily game drives to fully experience what this great natural environment offers.

Accommodation is at the Mara Sopa Lodge (Full Board)

  • We drive back to the floor of the Great Rift Valley after a scrumptious breakfast and a goodbye game drive out of the Masai Mara heading to Lake Naivasha.
  • Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya and sits at an altitude of 6,181 ft above sea level, Lake Naivasha.  Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake unlike most of the Rift Valley lakes which are saltwater lakes.
  • There are large populations of wildlife around the lake including hippos which roam around grazing for food in the late evenings and early mornings, waterbuck and giraffes.  Lake Naivasha is also known for its many species of birds.
  • Horticulture, floriculture, and dairy farming are quite prevalent activities in the region surrounding the lake which is mostly private land.
  • We will go hiking in the nearby Hell’s Gate National Park, visit the Sanctuary farm and get plenty of time to watch the numerous birds in the area.
